The Client Who Knew Better Than the Experts

Published by Emanullah on April 27, 2026
frustrated digital marketing agency team working late on client project in Pakistan

The client who watched 17 YouTube videos and officially knew more than the experts. A painfully relatable digital marketing agency story by OneCube Agency.

A true story. Names have been changed, but pain has not.

Every digital marketing agency in Pakistan has met this client.

He walks in confident, He has done his research, He has watched seventeen YouTube videos, read three blog posts, and spoken to a cousin who once built a website in 2014, He knows exactly what he wants, and more importantly, he knows better than you.

This is the story of that client. And what happened when a digital marketing agency tried to help him anyway.

Meet “Asad” The Client Who Knew Better

Asad ran a midsized trading company in Karachi. Good business. Decent revenue, A team of about 30 people who looked slightly exhausted every time we met them.

He came to OneCube because he wanted a new website, a social media strategy, and SEO that would “put him on the first page of Google in two weeks.”

We smiled politely.

We have been in digital marketing long enough to know that you cannot argue with a man who has spent four days watching YouTube tutorials and now considers himself an expert. You just nod. And then you try your best.

Week One: The Logo Disaster

We presented three logo concepts. Clean, Professional, Modern. Each one carefully crafted to reflect his industry, his target audience, and his brand positioning.

Asad looked at them for eleven seconds.

“I was thinking more like… you know the Pepsi logo? Can we do something like that but for trading?”

We explained that Pepsi’s logo had been developed over decades by teams of hundreds of designers and represented one of the most recognized brands on the planet.

“Yes but the circle. I like the circle. Can we add a circle?”

We added a circle.

“Actually can the circle be a cube? Because OneCube helped us. A cube would be a nice touch.”

We stared at him.

He was serious.

We made the cube.

Week Two: The Website Copy Catastrophe

We delivered the homepage copy. Sharp headline, Clear value proposition, Strong call to action. Everything a digital marketing agency knows a homepage needs to convert visitors into leads.

Asad read it carefully.

Then he rewrote it himself.

The new version began with “Welcome to our esteemed and prestigious organization which has been serving the noble clients of Pakistan since many years with utmost dedication and passion for excellence in all fields of trading and import export activities.”

One sentence, Eighty three words, Zero commas.

We suggested some changes.

He said: “I feel like this captures our essence better.”

We died a little inside.

Week Three: The SEO Strategy That Hurt Our Souls

We presented a keyword research document, Forty pages. Three months of digital marketing strategy. Prioritized by search volume, competition level, and conversion potential.

Asad flipped to page one.

“Why are we not targeting the keyword ‘best company in Pakistan’?”

We explained that nobody searches for “best company in Pakistan.” It has zero search volume. It is not how people use Google.

“My cousin searches for it.”

“Your cousin searches for best company in Pakistan.”

“He does. He told me.”

We checked. Zero searches per month.

We added it to the list anyway.

This is what working with a client who knows better than the experts looks like in real life.

Week Four: The Social Media Strategy Unravels

We built a content calendar. Thirty posts. A mix of educational content, behind the scenes, industry insights, and subtle promotional material, a proper digital marketing strategy designed to grow an engaged audience over three months.

Asad looked at it.

“I think we should post more about our achievements. Like every day we should post that we are the best.”

We explained that audiences on LinkedIn do not respond well to daily posts about how great a company is.

“But we ARE great.”

“We know. But the digital marketing strategy is to show that through valuable content rather than saying it directly.”

“What if we say it indirectly but also directly?”

There was a very long pause.

“Can we just post a photo of me with a motivational quote every day?”

Week Six: The Results Nobody Expected

By week six something extraordinary happened.

Despite everything. Despite the cube logo and the eighty three word sentence and the cousin who apparently searches for “best company in Pakistan” and the daily photo of Asad with motivational quotes.

The website was getting traffic.

The SEO was starting to move.

Two leads had come in through the contact form.

We presented the results. Asad looked at the numbers.

“See,” he said proudly. “I told you my digital marketing ideas would work.”

We opened our mouths.

We closed them again.

Some battles are not worth fighting.

“Yes Asad,” we said. “Your ideas worked.”

He smiled the smile of a man who had been right about everything all along.

We smiled the smile of people who had quietly fixed everything he broke at 11pm every night for six weeks.

What Every Digital Marketing Agency Learns From This Client

Every agency has an Asad. If you have been in digital marketing for more than six months you have met him. He arrives with a YouTube education, a strong opinion about circles, and an unshakeable belief that four days of research equals twenty years of experience.

And here is the thing, underneath all of it Asad genuinely wanted his business to succeed. He cared. Deeply, Obsessively, Slightly exhaustingly.

The best clients are not the ones who agree with everything you say. The best clients are the ones who care enough to push back, even when they are catastrophically wrong about the circle.

The secret is learning how to channel that energy without losing your mind in the process.

We are still learning.

Asad is still posting daily motivational quotes.

They are getting more engagement than anything else on the page.

We will never speak of this again.

Is Your Business Working With the Right Digital Marketing Agency?

If you are an Asad, we respect the hustle. Genuinely, But imagine what happens when that energy meets a digital marketing agency that actually knows what it is doing.

That is what we do at ONECUBE every single day.
